Indexed description

We need someone to build legacies, honor individuals, and fulfill dreams with care and intent.

If building legacies around people and communities through storytelling, and deep, meaningful activities that connect people together, with care and intent, speak to you — then there is a Foundation that needs a kindred spirit.

Lehr is looking for a Director Initiatives for its upcoming Non-Profit, Global Non-Government Organization 'Keeping a Dream Alive Foundation'.

About the Foundation

The Keeping a Dream Alive Foundation exists to make sure meaningful dreams are never carried alone. Our founding chapter is devoted to honoring and advancing one deeply personal legacy — the story at the heart of the reason this Foundation was created. In the years ahead, the Foundation's mission will grow to embrace additional legacies and eventually open to individuals and families around the world who seek its support.

Keeping a Dream Alive Foundation is part of Lehr's ecosystem, a global venture built around cultural generosity, thought leadership, and economic connectivity.

About the Role

The Director Initiatives will be the Foundation's principal authority — its fully empowered representative — across every partnership, program, and community covered by the mission. The role blends strategic leadership with real emotional depth. You will plan and build like a commander and show up for people like someone who genuinely means it.

This is a role built on two pillars at once: strategic execution, and genuine human care. The Director must plan, build, and lead with discipline — and, in the same breath, hold the emotional weight of legacy work with warmth, humility, and sincerity of intent. The activities, programing, community building, and partnerships within the Foundation are not simply operational deliverables; they are acts of stewardship over something deeply personal, and the right Director will treat them as such.

Core Responsibilities

Program & Activity Planning

  • Develop and execute the Foundation's initiative roadmap across each chapter of its mission, translating founding vision into structured, fundable, deliverable programs.
  • Design program frameworks that scale responsibly as the Foundation's mission expands to new legacies and new communities of support.
  • Establish operating rhythms, milestones, and reporting structures that give the Founder, the Executive Director of Initiatives and Operations, and the Chief of Staff clear visibility into progress.

Community Building

  • Build and nurture a community of supporters, beneficiaries, and collaborators who share the Foundation's founding spirit.
  • Serve as a trusted, warm point of contact for the individuals and families the Foundation supports — holding their stories with the same sincerity the Foundation was built on.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships rather than transactional ones, understanding that the Foundation's credibility rests on the depth of trust it earns.

Partnerships & External Affairs

  • Identify, cultivate, and formalize partnerships with aligned foundations, institutions, embassies, and mission-based organizations across the Foundation's active geographies.
  • Represent the Foundation in high-level meetings, negotiations, and diplomatic engagements, carrying full authority to act on its behalf.
  • Structure partnership agreements and collaborations that extend the Foundation's reach while protecting its founding intent.

Public Representation & Communication

  • Serve as a public-facing ambassador for the Foundation at conferences, community events, and institutional gatherings.
  • Shape the Foundation's public narrative in a way that honors the sincerity of its founding story without overexposing the personal legacies at the core.
  • Partner with Lehr's broader initiatives' teams where the Foundation's story intersects with the wider ecosystem.

Team Building & Organizational Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a team capable of carrying the Foundation's mission forward with the same care the Director brings personally.
  • Establish operational infrastructure — planning cadences, budget discipline, reporting lines — appropriate to a growing, multinational non-profit.
  • Mentor team leads, and staff as the Foundation's mission expands to additional chapters.

Legacy Building

  • Hold, protect, and advance the founding intent behind each chapter of the Foundation's mission with discretion and sincerity.
  • Ensure that as the Foundation opens its doors to new individuals and families over time, each is met with the same personal care that defined its founding chapter.
  • Act as a steady, trusted presence for the people and legacies the Foundation exists to serve.

Who We're Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading programs, partnerships, or community initiatives within a nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategy and hands-on levels — equally comfortable building a multi-year roadmap and sitting with a family the Foundation supports.
  • Experience representing an organization externally, including with government, institutional, and private stakeholders.
  • Track record of building and leading teams within a growing or early-stage organization.

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional relationship-building instincts, with genuine warmth and emotional intelligence at the center of how they operate.
  • Strong strategic and organizational planning capability, paired with the discipline to execute.
  • Sincerity of intent — an authentic, unperformed care for the people and legacies the Foundation serves, with a natural instinct for holding family, legacy, and multigenerational relationships with respect.
  • A confident, composed public presence suitable for high-level representational settings.

Location & Travel

  • Based in or near Missouri strongly preferred; candidates in neighboring Midwest states — Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, or Nebraska — are also encouraged to apply.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and on a recurring basis, including to Pakistan, the Philippines, Missouri, other US States, and additional mission geographies as the Foundation's footprint grows over time.

Compensation Structure

This is a full-time role that starts initially as a self-employed contractor. The compensation for the role is $100K - $150K annually.

Sponsored Provisions and Support

  • Sponsored travel to international locations and locations in the US.
  • Annual non-profit spend budget of $50K-$100K.
  • Support from partner individuals, and organisations in the Ecosystem.
  • Guidance and mentoring from senior advisors, and leadership.
