Position: General Manager, China JV
Company: Global high-end furniture group / China Joint Venture
Location: Dongguan, China
Reporting line: Directly to both JV CEOs
Scope: One dedicated JV project only
Travel: 20–30% within China; occasional international travel (1-2 times/yearly)
About the Role
The JV General Manager will take full executive responsibility for the development,
operation and performance of one China JV project. The role will move beyond
coordination and corporate liaison into direct business leadership, with ownership of the
JV business plan, team execution, budget, sales growth, store expansion, profitability
and operational KPIs.
The GM will lead the local team, manage an annual budget above EUR 2 million, and be
accountable for achieving the agreed annual business targets. The role will not include
communication, reporting or coordination responsibilities for the other two China projects.
Key Responsibilities:
General Management & P&L
- Lead the JV as the executive GM in China, with direct accountability for sales,
stores, productivity, profitability and execution.
- Own the annual business plan, budget, resource allocation and operating
cadence.
- Manage and develop the JV team, ensuring clear roles, KPIs, accountability and
execution discipline.
- Report directly to both JV CEOs on business performance, risks, decisions
required and corrective actions.
Sales, Retail & Expansion
- Deliver the annual sales and store expansion targets.
- Drive retail performance across owned stores and franchise/distribution channels.
- Improve sales per store, conversion, product mix, merchandising, store
operations and local commercial execution.
- Lead store opening plans, market prioritization, site selection support, channel
development and operational readiness.
Operational Execution
Translate the JV strategy into monthly and quarterly action plans.
- Identify bottlenecks and take direct action to accelerate execution.
- Coordinate Sales, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Logistics and external
partners around the JV objectives.
- Build repeatable operating systems, management routines and performance
dashboards.
Requirements:
- 10–15+ years of experience in retail operations, general management,
business development, franchise management or subsidiary leadership.
- Proven P&L ownership or senior operational responsibility.
- Strong experience in China and international business environments.
- Experience with retail store networks, franchise systems, distribution,
premium consumer goods or furniture is highly valued.
- Strong leadership, execution, negotiation and cross-cultural management
skills.
- Fluent English and Mandarin Chinese required; Cantonese is a plus.
- MBA or equivalent senior business training is a plus.
Compensation: TBD
The position offers a competitive compensation package aligned with senior local
market standards in South China for corporate strategy and operations roles.
