Position Overview

The General Manager will be responsible for defining and driving the commercial strategy of Harlequin Asia. This senior leadership role combines strategic vision with hands-on management to deliver sustainable growth, profitability, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with strong business acumen, capable of leading a talented team, developing new market opportunities, and working collaboratively with senior management in the UK to align local execution with group objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & Growth :

Develop and implement commercial strategies that deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth across the Asian region.

• Leadership :

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and collaboration.

• Market Development :

Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for business expansion, product innovation, and strategic partnerships.

• Performance Management :

Oversee sales performance, pricing strategies, and expenditure management to ensure profitability and operational efficiency.

• Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders across relevant sectors.

• Collaboration : Work closely with the International Operations Director and Group leadership to align commercial initiatives with broader corporate goals and marketing programs.

• Governance & Compliance : Ensure adherence to group policies, financial controls, and corporate reporting standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in a senior commercial, business development, or general management role.

• Strong leadership and people management skills, ideally with experience managing small to mid-sized teams.

• Demonstrated success in creating and executing commercial plans that deliver measurable business growth.

• Excellent analytical, financial, and negotiation skills.

• Excellent customer relationship skills.

• Background or familiarity with the construction, performing arts, or flooring industries is a strong advantage.

• Fluent in English, written and spoken. Mandarin useful for the Chinese market.

• Based in Hong Kong, with travel within the Asian Region and occasionally Europe.
