Strategy & Operations Lead
Indexed description
The Role
We are looking for a Strategy & Operations Lead to take full ownership of Nothing’s annual Strategic Planning (SP) and Business Planning (BP) cycles. As we scale, a critical priority is building a robust internal strategic and planning muscle to drive our next phase of growth.
You will not just be a PMO moving timelines forward; you will own the quality and coherence of the answer. You will be the critical bridge between our Growth, Product & Engineering teams in Shenzhen and our People, Marketing, Finance & Executive Leadership in London, ensuring that our bottom-up execution plans match our top-down strategic ambition.
What You’ll Do
- Own the End-to-End Planning Cycle: Lead the orchestration of the 3-Year Strategic Plan (SP) and Annual Business Plan (BP). You will design the process, set the rhythm, and ensure delivery from kickoff to final sign-off.
- Bridge the Strategy-Execution Gap: Act as the connective tissue between Shenzhen (Product, R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial) and London (Leadership, Finance, Brand, People). You will ensure that product roadmaps are financially viable and strategically aligned.
- Quality Control & Strategic Challenge: You are the first line of defense against unrealistic assumptions. You will pressure-test inputs from business units, call out inconsistencies ("smell test" the numbers), and ensure the final plan is credible and ambitious.
- Manage Friction & Alignment: You will facilitate high-stakes workshops with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Your job is to surface conflicts early, force hard decisions, and prevent "fake alignment" where disagreements are buried.
- Institutionalize Operating Model and Best Practices: Move the organization away from ad-hoc planning. You will help ensure that the operating model is fit for purpose and build templates, frameworks, and processes (incl. leveraging AI / automation) that allow our teams to plan smarter and faster every year.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5–8 years of total experience. You must have a background in Management Consulting combined with operational experience in-house.
- Planning Expertise: A proven track record of running complex, end-to-end annual planning cycles (SP/BP) in a corporate environment. You know what "good" looks like.
- Industry Background: Experience in Consumer Electronics / Hardware is highly preferred. You need to understand the complexities of hardware development cycles, supply chain, and product roadmaps. Experience with software is a strong plus.
- Bilingual Communication: Fluency in Mandarin and English is mandatory. You must be able to navigate deep technical discussions in Shenzhen and present persuasive strategic narratives to the Board/SLT in London.
- Executive Presence & Influence: You are comfortable managing high-stakes environments and challenging the C-suite when necessary. You possess the confidence to pressure-test assumptions and the diplomacy to align cross-functional leaders around a single source of truth.
Why This Role?
- Impact: You won't be on the sidelines advising; you will be the engine driving how Nothing decides its future.
- Visibility: You will work directly with the C-Suite and Functional Leads across the globe.
- Autonomy: We are looking for someone to come in and own this function, shaping it from the ground up.
