President / Chief Financial Officer (President/CFO)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced President/CFO to provide strategic leadership and financial stewardship for a growing construction and custom homes company. This dual role combines executive responsibility for overall company performance with hands-on CFO duties driving growth, securing financing, overseeing operations, and ensuring strong financial controls and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute the companys strategic plan in partnership with the executive team and board, balancing growth initiatives with margin and risk management.
- Lead all financial functions including forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and capital planning.
- Build and maintain banking and lender relationships; structure and negotiate debt facilities, construction loans, and other financing to support working capital and growth.
- Oversee job costing, project financial controls, change order tracking, and profitability analysis for custom home and construction projects.
- Provide executive oversight of operations (acting as President/GM) to align project delivery, estimating, purchasing, and field performance with financial targets.
- Develop and implement scalable systems, processes, and KPIs (ERP/CMMS/CRM) to support rapid growth and improve operating efficiencies.
- Manage corporate risk, insurance, contract terms, and compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial close processes and present clear, actionable financial reporting to the board and stakeholders.
- Drive talent development and build a high-performing leadership team across finance, operations, and project management.
- Evaluate and execute strategic transactions including joint ventures, acquisitions, or divestitures to accelerate growth and expand capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (CFO/President/GM) of a mid-market or growing company.
- Proven track record securing loans and managing lender relationships, including construction financing and working capital facilities.
- Direct experience in construction and custom homes business operations, including job costing, AIA billing, change orders, and field/office integration.
- Demonstrated success leading growing companies, scaling processes and systems, and implementing ERP/financial systems.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and cash management skills; comfortable presenting to boards and external stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change-management skills with a hands-on, results-oriented approach.
- Experience with M&A, capital raises, or strategic partnerships is a plus.
- High integrity and commitment to compliance, strong attention to detail, and ability to balance operational urgency with long-term strategy.
