Company Overview

This is a vertically integrated power distribution OEM building engineer-to-order PDUs, RPPs, and Static Transfer Switches for the data center market.

  • They are in hypergrowth mode with revenue growing more than 3x last year and projected to grow another 50–100% next year.
  • Sister facilities under the same ownership handle precision sheet metal fabrication and transformer manufacturing, with final assembly and on-site testing the primary facility this hire will lead.
  • They've recently acquired an additional 240,000 sq ft facility to nearly triple production capacity.
  • The COO this hire reports to is a veteran manufacturing executive who took his prior division at a global industrial OEM from 14–16 week lead times to 3–5 days on custom UPS products.

Role Overview

  • The mandate covers the full order entry to delivery process flow: planning, engineering, production, test, and warehouse/shipping.
  • You will be accountable for OTD, quality, safety, cost, and plant-level P&L performance.
  • As the business rapidly grows you'll start with a team of roughly 50 and will be expected to help build the organization, systems, and supervisory bench to support 250–300 people needed to serve customer demand effectively.

Core Responsibilities

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly production schedule across three product lines (PDU, RPP, STS).
  • 7-8 direct reports spanning Assembly Supervision, Production Planning, Project Engineering, Production Engineering, Test, and Warehouse Operations.
  • Capacity planning and forecasting including translating demand growth into staffing plans, shift structures, layout changes, and capital requests.
  • The plant operating budget, with direct accountability for cost-per-unit, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption.
  • Lean deployment across the floor: value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, standard work, and SMED.
  • The ISO quality management system, including documentation, corrective action, and customer audit readiness.
  • Daily and weekly operational metrics including OTD, first-pass yield, safety, productivity, WIP, and backlog, with countermeasures when performance trends off target.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership in a lean, high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated experience running high-volume production operations.
  • A track record of building profitable capacity growth across people, process, and physical plant.
  • Hands-on lean expertise including value stream mapping and structured continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and audit/compliance processes.
  • Financial acumen to read, interpret, and act on a P&L and balance sheet, with prior plant budget ownership.
  • Experience leading a multi-department organization through supervisors and managers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical or electromechanical manufacturing background across power distribution, switchgear, controls, or similar regulated electrical products.
  • Experience leading an operation of at least 250 employees.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent).
  • CNC sheet metal fabrication exposure, including laser cutting and stamping.
