As the Head of Financial Systems, you will report directly to the Group Commercial Finance Director, and be based at our Group Head Office in Woolsington, Newcastle. You will lead the Financial Systems team and shape the strategic direction of Bellway’s finance technology landscape.
This is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for the ownership, optimisation and future development of Bellway’s wider finance systems landscape. You will provide strategic oversight of the Group’s core ERP platform, COINS, alongside the financial, operational and integrated systems supporting Finance, Commercial and Operational functions.
Operating in a complex, growing housebuilding environment, you will ensure Bellway’s systems strengthen financial control, operational efficiency, management information and scalable growth.
Bridging business strategy and technology capability, you will lead systems-enabled transformation and harness AI, automation and advanced analytics to improve efficiency, insight and decision-making.
Principal accountabilities of the Head of Finance role include:
Strategic Leadership & Systems Ownership
- Own and deliver Bellway’s finance systems strategy and roadmap, aligned with business priorities and growth plans.
- Provide strategic oversight of COINS, Business Central and other key systems.
- Lead major systems-enabled change and advise senior leaders on capability, risk, opportunity and investment priorities.
Finance, Commercial & Operational Enablement
- Ensure systems support financial control, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, cost management and reporting.
- Partner across Finance, Commercial, Construction, Operations and IT to standardise processes, strengthen governance and maximise value from technology.
Change, Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead transformation projects, including upgrades, implementations, integrations, Accounts Payable (AP) automation and process redesign.
- Building team capability and applying AI, automation and advanced analytics to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, insight and decision-making.
- Drive effective system adoption through communication, training and continuous improvement.
Systems Governance & Support
- Lead the Financial Systems team and maintain effective governance, controls and change management.
- Manage vendors and implementation partners, ensuring systems and support services are resilient and meet business needs.
Data, Reporting & Integration
- Ensure accurate, governed financial and operational data, with reporting, dashboards and KPIs that support decision-making.
- Drive integration across COINS, Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics, Access and future platforms.
- Support the Group’s data lake and develop AI-enabled reporting and analytics to improve forecasting and business insight.
People & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the Financial Systems team, building capability, accountability and high performance.
- Influence senior stakeholders, manage competing priorities and navigate challenge constructively.
- Translate technical complexity into clear business outcomes and encourage new ways of working.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
- Significant experience leading enterprise finance systems within a complex, large-scale organisation.
- Proven track record managing, motivating and developing a high-performing finance systems team.
- Demonstrable delivery of finance systems projects and transformation, including implementations, integrations, process automation and AP automation.
- Strong understanding of finance processes, controls, reporting and commercial operations.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to challenge constructively and gain senior-level support.
- Ability to balance strategic direction with operational delivery.
Desirable
- Knowledge of COINS, Business Central, systems integration, data governance or business intelligence tools.
- Experience in housebuilding, construction or another multi-site, project-based environment.
- Experience using AI, automation or advanced analytics to improve finance or operational processes, reporting or decision-making.

The Role and Working Conditions
- Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked.
- Office based role with some travel within the Divisional area and Head Office, located in Newcastle upon Tyne.
