The Role
You will be an experienced NMC-registered nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register, ideally with experience in immunising children and young people. You will have an interest in public health and be motivated to work as part of a small, skill-mix team. Delivering high-quality, patient-centred care is central to our service.
The role will primarily involve community-based work, including delivery of immunisations in schools and other community settings for children and young people. On occasion, you may also be required to support immunisation delivery for babies and infants as part of the pre-school team. Full training will be provided.
There are 2 posts available one in North West Glasgow/West Dunbarton and one in South Glasgow/East Renfrewshire. While individual posts will be predominantly aligned to these specific localities, all posts are employed on a GGC Board-wide basis. As such, cross-boundary working across the teams will be required at times to support service delivery.
This post is contracted over 12 months, with annualised working terms and conditions. The working period of this post runs for 8 months from August to April with a non-working period of 4 months from April to August.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- These are full-time, fixed-term posts of 12 months. Working 36 hours over 35 weeks.
- Hours are Mon-Friday 8.30-16.30 with one day finishing at 15.00
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- On Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register
- Evidence of continuing professional development, including immunisation
- IT skills
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Leadership skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Car driver, driving within city/countryside environments
- Experience of working with children, young people and families
- Awareness of national immunisation policy drivers
- Previous experience of delivering immunisations
- Awareness of national policy and legislation within children’s services
- Completion of e-learning course ‘Promoting Effective Immunisation Practice’
