Head of School, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
Indexed description
- Springfield, MA
- $200,000 annual salary
- Day-one health benefits
Alpha is opening a new campus in Springfield, and we're looking for a leader who knows the city's education landscape firsthand. You will manage 15+ Guides who motivate and coach students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional teaching. Just action. Just leadership.
Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This position is not a standard Principal job. You will maintain rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and create Springfield's top school from the start.
Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Open our Springfield, MA campus: Fulfill Alpha's three core promises to 100+ students from the outset with operational precision in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops for K-8 students on life skills: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Execute Alpha's proven playbook to help students develop skills that traditional schools overlook while keeping it engaging.
- Drive every student to reach 100% of their objectives: Create personalized motivational strategies for each child. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their benchmarks.
- Develop Guides to excellence and uphold Alpha's performance standards: Leverage data to pinpoint performance shortfalls, provide clear feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when standards are not met and model the behavior expected across your campus.
- Lead campus operations through data-driven decision-making: Evaluate performance across team members, operations, family engagement, and school culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage relevant parties, and execute measurable solutions. Document every decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Teaching or tutoring students. Students progress through Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform, not through traditional adult-led lectures.
- Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's playbook already exists. Your responsibility is execution and team leadership, not content development.
- Overseeing budgets or recruiting staff. Corporate functions manage finance and talent acquisition. You concentrate entirely on campus results and culture.
- Serving as the content expert. This position is 80% leader and motivator, 20% educator. You energize, the platform teaches.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or a comparable field.
- Proven experience building and leading teams of at least 15 individuals with complete hiring and termination authority.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield, MA educational environment.
- Experience working directly with children ages 5 - 14.
- Proficient data analysis capabilities and demonstrated use of metrics to inform decision-making and drive ongoing improvement.
- Commitment to revolutionizing education. Conviction that the traditional model is fundamentally flawed.
- Startup orientation: performs well under pressure, flexible in evolving environments, confident building frameworks from the ground up.
- Dynamic and captivating communicator who holds the attention of large groups of students or staff.
- Capable of connecting with K-8 students, understanding their world and interests, and acting as an exemplary role model.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Roles with real student impact: Alpha hires teachers (guides), operators, admissions experts, school & curriculum leaders, and remote team members.
Education work that pays like it matters: Alpha offers six-figure roles for people ready to help build a radically better school experience.
A culture built for builders: Alpha is fast-moving, ambitious, and student focused. It’s for people who want to improve the system, not maintain it.
