AI Transformation Lead

About the role

As our AI Transformation Lead, you will drive enterprise-wide AI transformation across our business - working across business units, technology, and corporate functions to accelerate execution of high-impact initiatives with measurable organisational outcomes.

You will maintain an integrated view of our AI transformation portfolio, drive prioritisation and execution, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and keep risks and dependencies proactively managed - supporting senior leadership and the relevant governance forum with the visibility they need to steer.

This is not a solution-architect seat and it is not a delivery-PM seat. You are the bridge between the business and the technology - translating strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, and translating what the technology can actually do back into terms senior leadership can decide on. You will operate at senior stakeholder altitude; comfort influencing executives and functional heads without formal authority is the job, not a nice-to-have.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, drive, and manage high-impact, transformative AI initiatives that deliver significant enterprise value through sharper decision-making, enhanced insight, and greater organisational productivity.
• Validate and develop the business cases and implementation approaches for these initiatives, working across business and technology functions to mobilise, execute, and turn strategic intent into tangible outcomes.
• Support the development and ongoing refinement of our enterprise AI roadmap, translating organisational priorities into a coordinated portfolio of initiatives and capability-building efforts.
• Serve as the central coordination point for the portfolio ensuring visibility across key initiatives, milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource requirements and support the associated governance, prioritisation, and reporting processes.
• Support the design and delivery of enterprise-wide and cross-functional AI enablers which may include workforce AI enablement, AI data governance, AI-enabled operating model design, and new ways of working.
• Partner with business and functional teams to coordinate efforts, share best practices, and drive execution across the organisation.

Experience & capabilities

• Enterprise transformation & programme leadership - 12+ years in strategic transformation and large-scale business/technology programme management. Demonstrated track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives, establishing governance and operating rhythms, managing senior stakeholders, and delivering measurable outcomes in large organisations. Management consulting foundation; MBB background strongly preferred.
• Strategic thinking & execution - Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate enterprise priorities into practical roadmaps and execution plans. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, evaluating trade-offs, and making recommendations to senior leaders on priorities and resource allocation.
• AI, data & technology fluency - Genuine fluency in AI, data, and digital technologies. You do not need to write production code, but you must be conversant — not superficially — in the major data platforms (e.g., Databricks), the hyperscalers (AWS/Azure/GCP), and the current AI platform landscape. Data readiness gates almost every AI initiative; a candidate who treats data as someone else's problem is disqualifying for this seat. Able to engage credibly with senior technology leaders, challenge assumptions, and shape AI-enabled transformation.
• Executive influence & organisational change - Ability to build alignment and influence across a highly matrixed organisation. Proven ability to drive organisational change, workforce adoption, and cross-functional collaboration, with strong communication and executive engagement skills.
• Partner & ecosystem management - Experience working with technology providers, consulting firms, delivery partners, and specialist vendors to accelerate transformation delivery while maintaining strong governance and quality standards.
