osition Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and scale day-to-day operations across a vertically integrated Montana cannabis platform. This role is responsible for operational execution across cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail while ensuring regulatory compliance, cost discipline, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate brings deep operational leadership experience within a regulated, multi-site environment and has successfully managed complex organizations with $20+ million in annual revenue. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong execution, systems thinking, and the ability to drive accountability across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end operations across cultivation, manufacturing, and retail locations
  • Translate strategic objectives into executable operating plans and KPIs
  • Drive operational efficiency, throughput, and margin improvement across all departments
  • Implement standardized SOPs, reporting frameworks, and internal controls

People & Performance Management

  • Lead department heads and site-level managers; build a high-performance operating culture
  • Establish performance metrics, accountability structures, and continuous-improvement processes
  • Support hiring, training, and development of operational leadership and frontline staff

Financial & Resource Management

  • Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives
  • Optimize labor deployment, production scheduling, and inventory management
  • Support capital planning, equipment procurement, and facility utilization decisions

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Montana Cannabis Control Division (CCD) regulations
  • Maintain operational readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting
  • Implement systems to mitigate operational, compliance, and supply-chain risk

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Coordinate closely with compliance, finance, sales, and executive leadership
  • Support post-acquisition integration, facility transitions, and operational scaling initiatives
  • Act as a key operator during periods of growth, restructuring, or consolidation
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of senior operational management experience
  • Prior leadership experience in an organization with $20+ million in annual revenue
  • Proven track record managing multi-site or complex operations
  • Strong understanding of regulated industries (cannabis, alcohol, manufacturing, food, pharma, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build systems, and execute under regulatory constraints
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and operational metrics
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Montana
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in vertically integrated cannabis operations
  • Background in cultivation, manufacturing, supply chain, or multi-unit retail
  • Experience supporting M&A integration or rapid operational scaling
  • Familiarity with ERP, POS, inventory, or seed-to-sale systems
