An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Energy Storage Ireland to lead the strategic direction of a leading industry association.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving policy development, industry advocacy, stakeholder engagement, organisational growth, and operational management.

This role serves as the primary spokesperson for the energy storage sector and works closely with government departments, regulators, electricity system operators, and industry leaders to support the expansion of energy storage as part of the energy transition.

This is a hybrid position 2 days required in office in Dublin only.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with extensive experience in the energy sector and a strong understanding of energy policy and electricity markets. They will possess excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers across government, regulators, and industry. They will be commercially aware, capable of managing organisational operations, and passionate about supporting the transition to a secure, low-carbon energy system.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the organisation's strategic plan in line with board objectives.
  • Lead policy, regulatory, and market initiatives supporting energy storage deployment.
  • Identify opportunities to grow membership, revenue, and organisational capability.
  • Drive delivery of annual strategic priorities and performance objectives.

Policy & Regulatory Affairs

  • Represent the organisation with government departments, regulators, electricity market operators, network companies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop evidence-based policy positions and consultation responses.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments impacting the sector.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities for members.

Industry Representation

  • Act as the principal public representative for the energy storage industry.
  • Represent the organisation at conferences, industry forums, and media engagements.
  • Build strong relationships with senior policymakers, elected representatives, regulators, and industry executives.

Membership Engagement

  • Engage regularly with member organisations to understand priorities and challenges.
  • Lead the development and delivery of member services and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee planning and financial performance of industry events and conferences.
  • Support membership growth through recruitment and retention initiatives.

Communications & Advocacy

  • Lead communications and advocacy strategies promoting the value of energy storage.
  • Oversee media engagement, public affairs, and thought leadership activities.
  • Coordinate campaigns supporting policy and market reform.

Operational Leadership

  • Manage organisational operations, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Report regularly to the governing council on organisational progress and KPIs.
  • Ensure effective governance, compliance, and organisational transparency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 7 experience within the energy sector, electricity markets, or energy policy.
  • Strong understanding of Ireland's electricity market and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of government policy-making processes and key energy sector stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing policy and regulatory outcomes.
  • Proven ability to engage and build relationships with senior government and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience leading teams and managing organisational performance.
  • Strong strategic planning and budget management experience.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to supporting the energy transition and decarbonisation objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a membership or industry association.
  • Knowledge of energy storage technologies and their commercial applications.
  • Full clean driving licence.
