JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: In-Office: The Woodlands, TX 77301

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Mid-Level

Reports To: Director of Operations

Works Closely With: Operations Managers

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000

ABOUT THE ROLE

You are an extension of the Director of Operations — trusted to carry projects he'd otherwise run himself, coach the teams in his department, and give him back the bandwidth to operate at a higher level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project ownership. Take projects end-to-end that the Dir of Ops would normally handle — research it, build it, drive it, report back. You do the heavy lifting and the grunt work both.
  • Team leadership. Assist with leading and coaching the sub-teams inside Operations. Develop and up-scale the managers into stronger leaders, not just keeping the trains running on time.
  • Execution of strategy. Turn strategic priorities into real operating plans: clear owners, clear deadlines, clear accountability.
  • Institutional infrastructure. Build the backbone as we scale — role standards, processes, comp structures, the unglamorous systems that let the company grow without breaking.
  • Delegated decision-making. Make decisions on the Director of Operations' behalf within your delegated authority, and have the judgment to know which calls need to escalate back to him.

WHO YOU ARE

  • High judgment, low ego. You'll do strategy work and grunt work in the same afternoon and not flinch at either.
  • A finisher. You close loops without being chased and own outcomes, not tasks.
  • A coach, not just a manager. You can hold a room and pull the best out of people.
  • Trustworthy. Walker can hand you a problem and stop thinking about it.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Required

  • 4+ years in operations, project management, consulting, or a generalist "chief of staff / right hand" type role
  • A track record of owning at least one significant cross-functional project end-to-end — you scoped it, built it, drove it, and were accountable for the outcome
  • Direct experience developing people (formal management, or informal coaching/mentoring where you measurably leveled someone up)
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity — you can take a vague priority and turn it into a plan without being handed a playbook
  • Strong written communication and the ability to synthesize messy information into clear recommendations

Strong plus

  • Experience building operational infrastructure from scratch (processes, role standards, comp structures, systems)
  • Exposure to a high-volume, fast-cycle business model
  • Comfort with data and basic financial modeling

TRAJECTORY

This is a builder's seat with a clear path upwards as the organization grows. Decision authority is delegated from day one and expands with demonstrated trust.
