Founding Operations Lead

Towns Of is building the event platform for small towns + regional hubs — helping people discover what’s happening locally while giving community builders better tools to host, grow, and own their audiences.

We’re an early-stage startup growing quickly across multiple markets, and we’re looking for a highly organized, scrappy operator to work directly alongside the founder and help build the operational backbone of the company.

You’ll be expected to take ownership of problems, build systems where they don’t exist, and make sure important things actually get done.

Company Operations:

Help bring structure to the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving startup.

• Manage contractor onboarding, agreements, 1099s, documentation, and payments
• Coordinate payroll, taxes, bookkeeping, and compliance alongside our accountants and outside partners
• Build internal processes and documentation as the company grows
• Help manage hiring, onboarding, and contractor operations
• Keep projects, deadlines, and priorities organized across the company

Sponsorship Operations:

The founder is strongest when he’s in the room selling. Your job is to help create more of those rooms — and make sure opportunities don’t die because someone forgot to follow up.

• Build and maintain our partnerships pipeline
• Research and identify potential advertisers
• Own outbound prospecting and help get qualified meetings on the calendar
• Maintain our CRM and make sure every opportunity has a clear next step
• Handle follow-ups, scheduling, proposals, and sales materials
• Help turn founder-led sales into a repeatable process
• Coordinate campaigns and deliverables once partnerships close

Strategic Partnerships:

Help us develop relationships with organizations that could meaningfully accelerate Towns Of.

This could include Chambers of Commerce, municipalities, Business Improvement Districts, tourism organizations, local publishers, news organizations, newsletter operators, and other potential distribution or product partners.

You’ll help identify the right organizations, find the right people within them, conduct outreach, and get conversations started.

As we launch new products, APIs, integrations, or institutional offerings, you’ll help build the initial pipeline of organizations that could use them.

Founder & Executive Operations:

Act as a force multiplier for the founder.

• Turn ideas and conversations into clear projects and next steps
• Make sure important follow-ups actually happen
• Prepare research and context ahead of important meetings
• Help prioritize what deserves attention — and what doesn’t
• Track major company initiatives and keep them moving
• Take operational work off the founder’s plate as the company scales

Who we're looking for:

You’re extremely organized without needing everything around you to already be organized.

You’re comfortable being handed something messy and figuring out how to turn it into a process.

You’re proactive about following up with people and slightly obsessive about making sure things don’t fall through the cracks.

You can comfortably switch between researching a potential sponsor, fixing a contractor process, preparing for a partnership meeting, and figuring out why something internally isn’t getting done.

You probably have experience in startups, operations, business development, consulting, venture-backed companies, or another environment where you’ve had to wear multiple hats.

This isn't an Executive Assistant position.

There will absolutely be scheduling, coordination, follow-ups, spreadsheets, and unglamorous operational work. But the goal isn't to manage the founder's calendar.

The goal is to gradually own the systems behind the company so the founder can spend more time on product, sales, fundraising, community, and the things that require him specifically.

As Towns Of grows, this role has the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership position across operations.
