The ideal candidate combines deep financial expertise with strong operational discipline, M&A transaction experience, and a track record of driving execution through structured operating systems and clear accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities

CFO Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the firm and its fund vehicles.
  • Oversee fund accounting, investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, and NAV calculations.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, prime brokers, fund administrators, and banking partners.
  • Design and maintain the firm's capital structure and liquidity management framework, ensuring efficient deployment of investment capital.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, scorecards, and dashboards that give leadership clear visibility into performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, fund covenants, and reporting obligations.
  • Support capital-raising efforts through investor-ready financial materials, due diligence packages, and direct engagement with prospective investors and lenders.

COO / Operational Leadership Responsibilities

  • Drive day-to-day operational execution across underwriting, portfolio management, legal operations, HR, IT, and administration.
  • Maintain and optimize the firm's existing operating system (EOS-based), including facilitating quarterly and annual planning sessions, maintaining the scorecard, and ensuring accountability across departments.
  • Own operational KPIs, identify bottlenecks, and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right seats, remove obstacles, and promote open, honest communication across departments.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, technology systems, and office operations.
  • Partner with department heads to align priorities, resolve cross-functional issues, and maintain execution cadence.

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Lead or co-lead all merger, acquisition, and strategic transaction activity on behalf of the firm.
  • Manage financial due diligence, deal structuring, valuation analysis, and integration planning for potential acquisitions or partnerships.
  • Evaluate inorganic growth opportunities and present actionable recommendations to the CEO.
  • Coordinate with external counsel, investment bankers, and advisors through deal execution and post-close integration.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Progressive experience in finance and/or operations leadership, with at least 5 years in a CFO, COO, or equivalent C-suite role.
  • Demonstrated M&A experience is required — must have led or materially contributed to at least two completed transactions (buy-side or sell-side).
  • Background in private credit, litigation finance, alternative investments, or fund management is strongly preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA (or equivalent advanced degree/credential) is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of corporate and fund finance, including forecasting, capital planning, and performance measurement.
  • Strong operational acumen with proven ability to drive execution through structured operating systems, using data, scorecards, and clear accountability.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a disciplined, data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities; comfortable leading established teams and engaging directly with investors, lenders, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the confidence to hold teams accountable and drive results.
  • High level of integrity, judgment, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must be based in Arizona or willing to relocate to Arizona prior to start date. This is a firm requirement.
