President

< Back to Careers

Established in 1963, the BC Marine Terminal Operators Association (BCMTOA) is actively engaged with all its stakeholders to ensure that Canada’s Asia-Pacific Gateway delivers sustainable, competitive terminal capacity to meet Canada’s growing international trade in exports and imports. Through its mandate, to improve the economic and environmental viability of BC’s marine terminals and to invest in and promote the value of the port industry to local communities, the province, and the nation, BCMTOA acts as the voice of marine terminals in BC and is dedicated to the safe, high quality, and reliable movement of goods through BC’s ports.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for leading and advancing a coordinated advocacy agenda, strengthening stakeholder alignment and ensuring BCMTOA continues to deliver value to its members. The President acts as a key liaison to internal and external partners including the provincial, and federal governments, port authorities, Greater Vancouver Gateway Council, BC Chamber of Shipping, other relevant supply chain industry associations and, and BCMTOA’s members, as well as working collaboratively with the National Maritime Group.

Building on a strong foundation, BCMTOA is entering a phase focused on delivering on key priorities including advancing issues related to port governance, federal supply chain policy, as well as ensuring that significant ongoing investments in terminal infrastructure are supported by aligned policy and regulatory frameworks. The President will play a central role in shaping and executing advocacy strategies and campaigns that position BCMTOA as a solutions-oriented partner to government and industry.

As the leader for BCMTOA’s engagement with its members and external stakeholders, the ideal candidate will bring exceptional capabilities in advocacy, communication, and governance within a complex, multi-partner environment. Experience reporting to a board and bringing a depth of governance experience is key. The President will demonstrate a proven ability to build and sustain effective relationships, collaborate with diverse partners around shared priorities and execute on strategic initiatives that deliver tangible outcomes. The role requires business and administrative acumen, political savvy and the ability to communicate concisely and effectively to a myriad of audiences. Experience in government relations and a strong understanding of port operations and supply chain dynamics will be considered assets.

The target salary range for this position is $190,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
