Senior Sustainability Lead
Indexed description
Your mandate will be measured by tangible outcomes across our supply chains, not by frameworks on paper. You should be as comfortable working at origin with producers, certifications, and sourcing realities as you are presenting recommendations to senior leadership, serving as Frey’s trusted advisor on sustainability and ESG.
The role is structured as a full-time 12-month project agreement, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
What You Will Own
- Strategy & framework: Own the process of identifying Frey’s material sustainability priorities and develop the strategic framework, including potential commitments, governance, operating model, and implementation roadmap.
- Standards & certification: Establish sustainability standards across Frey’s product verticals by coordinating certification schemes, audits, traceability initiatives, and renewal processes while aligning stakeholders on sustainability priorities, compliance requirements, and implementation through practical guidance and training.
- Subject matter expert: Act as Frey’s global subject matter expert on sustainability and ESG, translating current and emerging regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
- Partner Engagement: Build strong working relationships with producers, logistics partners, and counterparties to embed sustainability standards throughout our sourcing and operating practices.
- KPIs & reporting: Define relevant KPIs and establish reliable data, ownership, and reporting processes to support informed decision-making.
- Compliance as a byproduct: Ensure Frey is well positioned to meet applicable sustainability reporting requirements, including CSRD, as a natural outcome of strong operational practices rather than a compliance exercise.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience within sustainability, ESG, responsible sourcing, procurement, operations, or agricultural commodity supply chains.
- Strong understanding of how physical commodity supply chains operate – from origin sourcing to logistics and destination markets.
- Experience developing and implementing sustainability initiatives that create measurable operational and commercial impact.
- Working knowledge of sustainability regulations, including CSRD, and certification schemes such as Rainforest Alliance, RSPO, Fairtrade, or similar.
- Experience working with supplier engagement, traceability, certification processes, and sustainability reporting.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations and business decisions.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
