Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Secondary education in cooking/food preparation preferred. ServSafe certification
Experience
3-5 years experience preparing meals in a supervisory role preferred.
Special Skills
Must be able to use ovens, steam kettles, groen pan, slicing machine, chopper and other cooking equipment. Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities ensuring optimal quality at point of service. Must be able to cook ala carte style. Must be able to follow recipes. Must maintain care and use of supplies and equipment. Follows all industry and regulatory agency procedures and requirements. Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity. Good communication and interaction skills. Must demonstrate emotional stability and be able to relate to the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the organization including patients, family members, staff, visitors, etc. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details. Must be able to competently function under pressure and with interruptions. Must maintain composure during stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing Department needs. Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, effectively problem solve and perform related responsibilities.
