We're seeking an Executive Chef to lead the culinary program for one of New York City's most recognized private members clubs and creative communities. This role oversees a multifaceted food & beverage operation including a members-only restaurant, private dining, café offerings, and a high-volume events program. It's an opportunity to shape the culinary direction of a distinctive hospitality destination while leading and developing a talented kitchen team.
We're looking for a chef with a strong fine dining foundation and meaningful experience leading complex restaurant and private events operations. The ideal candidate brings a passion for seasonal sourcing, thoughtful menu development, operational excellence, and creating memorable hospitality experiences at scale.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
You'll serve as the culinary leader for a high-profile members club, overseeing every aspect of the food program across restaurant service, lounges, private dining, and a robust events business. This role is ideal for a chef with fine dining roots who can balance creativity, operational discipline, and high-volume execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all culinary operations across multiple food & beverage experiences while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency.
- Lead kitchen execution for member dining, corporate meetings, conferences, private celebrations, and large-scale events.
- Develop seasonal menus built around strong relationships with local farmers, fisheries, ranches, and artisan producers.
- Partner closely with the events team to review production schedules, allocate resources, and ensure flawless execution across a busy private events calendar.
- Continuously evolve menus and culinary offerings with an understanding of member expectations, market trends, and the surrounding competitive landscape.
- Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing kitchen team while fostering a collaborative, respectful culture.
- Lead daily lineups and establish clear expectations around service, quality, and execution.
- Drive financial performance by managing food cost, labor, purchasing, inventory, and scheduling against established targets.
- Maintain best-in-class kitchen operations, including food safety, sanitation, equipment upkeep, and overall operational readiness.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience in refined, high-volume kitchens.
- Background in fine dining with significant exposure to private events, banquets, or large-scale catered productions.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing culinary teams of approximately 20 or more employees.
- Strong business acumen with experience managing food cost, labor performance, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Passion for seasonal ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and menu development.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where restaurant service and event production run simultaneously.
- Hands-on leadership style with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Slack, and similar workplace technology.
- Flexibility to support occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on business needs.
What We Offer
- Immediate (Day-One) health, dental, and vision coverage, plus family planning and mental well-being benefits.
- Competitive PTO, paid birthday off, paid parental leave, and an annual year-end holiday closure.
- Competitive base salary, annual performance bonus, and 401(k) matching.
