Our structured curriculum focuses not only on chess mastery but also on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, confidence, discipline, creativity, and decision-making skills in children.
As we continue expanding across Hyderabad and into schools, we are looking for passionate and experienced Chess Coaches who can inspire students while maintaining the highest standards of coaching.
Position Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic, student-focused, and experienced Chess Coaches to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have strong coaching experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching children.
The coach should be comfortable teaching students of all skill levels through:
- Offline Academy Classes
- Online Live Classes
- School Chess Curriculum
- Tournament Training
Key Responsibilities
The selected coach will be responsible for:
Coaching & Teaching
- Deliver high-quality chess coaching sessions to beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.
- Teach students through:
- Offline academy classes
- Online live classes
- School chess programs
- Conduct one-on-one and group coaching sessions.
- Teach students across different age groups (5–18 years).
- Follow and implement Lumina Chess Academy's official curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans based on the curriculum.
- Conduct tactical puzzles, strategy lessons, endgame training, and game analysis.
- Ensure consistency in teaching standards across all batches.
- Monitor each student's progress.
- Identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Encourage discipline, confidence, sportsmanship, and critical thinking.
- Prepare students for:
- School tournaments
- District tournaments
- State tournaments
- National tournaments
- FIDE-rated events
- Analyze tournament games and provide improvement plans.
- Act as a Chess Arbiter during academy and school tournaments.
- Conduct tournaments in accordance with FIDE Laws of Chess and academy guidelines.
- Manage pairings, results, fair play, time controls, and dispute resolution.
- Coordinate with tournament organizers and ensure smooth execution of events.
- Conduct parent feedback sessions.
- Share student progress reports.
- Address academic and chess-related concerns professionally.
- Maintain attendance records.
- Submit weekly coaching reports.
- Update student performance records.
- Assist in academy events and workshops.
- Minimum 3–5 years of chess coaching experience.
- Experience coaching children of different age groups.

- Positional Play
- Calculation
- Tournament Preparation
- Excellent classroom management.
- Friendly and approachable personality.
- Passion for working with children.
- Ability to motivate students.
- Patient and encouraging teaching style.
- Good spoken English.
- Telugu and Hindi are an added advantage.
- Strong communication with students, parents, and school management.
Must be willing to:
- Work evenings and weekends.
- Travel to schools within Hyderabad when required.
- Teach both offline and online classes.
Comfortable using:
- ChessBase
- Lichess
- Chess.com
- Zoom / Google Meet / Microsoft Teams
- Digital demonstration boards
- Ability to serve as a Chess Arbiter and conduct academy and school tournaments.
- Knowledge of FIDE Laws of Chess, Swiss pairing systems, tie-break rules, and tournament management is preferred.
- FIDE Arbiter (FA) or National Arbiter certification is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Candidates with the following will be given preference:
- FIDE Rated Player
- State Rated Player
- National-level playing experience
- Experience coaching FIDE-rated players
- Experience training students for state and national championships
- Experience conducting chess camps and workshops
- Arbiter certification (FA/NA)
- Experience organizing inter-school tournaments
