Solaris & VCS Administrator

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Solaris & Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) SME to lead Patch Management and Vulnerability Remediation Operations in a large-scale enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Solaris administration, VCS clustering, CVE assessment, OS hardening, and security patch deployment across mission-critical Unix platforms.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring strong troubleshooting capabilities, operational excellence, and experience managing complex patching activities in SLA-driven production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Solaris & VCS Administration

• Provide L3 support and administration for Solaris environments.
• Manage and support Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) and high-availability configurations.
• Perform cluster health checks, failover validation, and troubleshooting.
• Support Solaris Zones, virtualization, and clustered environments.

Patch & Vulnerability Management (Primary Focus)

• Lead end-to-end patch management operations for Solaris and Unix platforms.
• Conduct CVE assessments and vulnerability impact analysis.
• Plan, test, schedule, and deploy OS, firmware, and security patches.
• Drive remediation activities to meet security and compliance SLAs.
• Perform OS hardening in accordance with enterprise security standards.
• Coordinate patch implementation with infrastructure, application, and security teams.
• Maintain patch compliance dashboards and operational reports.

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot complex Solaris, VCS, OS, hardware, and performance-related issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis for critical incidents.
• Monitor system logs and implement preventive measures.
• Support firmware, BIOS, and infrastructure upgrades.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop automation scripts for pre-patch and post-patch activities.
• Improve patching efficiency through process automation and standardization.
• Drive operational excellence initiatives and continuous service improvements.

• Experience working in SLA-driven production support environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a hands-on technical approach.
