About the Role

ViaTech needs an experienced Systems Engineer to run and secure our global infrastructure while helping us stay audit-ready for HITRUST and SOC 2. You'll work closely with Security, Compliance, and Technology to keep systems reliable, protected, and compliant — with real ownership over the environment, not just ticket queues.


Location

Remote (hybrid preferred in Dallas, Chicago, or Los Angeles)


Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain servers supporting applications and services
  • Administer Azure and AWS environments using security-first
  • Manage Microsoft 365 (Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Copilot)
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Keep systems aligned with HITRUST CSF and SOC 2 Type II controls — audits, evidence, and remediation
  • Harden and patch systems per compliance and security standards
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and monitor performance/capacity
  • Support technical integration during acquisitions and mergers
  • Find and act on cost-saving opportunities on-prem and in the cloud
  • Review, test, and approve system/application updates before deployment
  • Build automation scripts to cut down on manual work
  • Support other Technology teams with deployments and troubleshooting
  • Gather requirements and report progress in stakeholder meetings
  • Deliver technical support and lead incident response


Experience:

  • 5+ years in systems engineering or IT infrastructure, ideally at scale
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related fields required; extensive experience may be considered
  • Comfort with HITRUST/SOC 2 environments (preferred, not required)
  • Solid Windows/Linux administration and networking fundamentals
  • Hands-on Azure and AWS experience
  • Microsoft 365 administration experience
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation habits
  • Self-starter who works well remotely and cross-functionally
  • Bonus: M&A IT integration experience, Terraform/Ansible, or certs like CISSP, Security+, or HITRUST CCSFP
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prioritizing internal and external customer service
