About the project
Our client is building an enterprise-grade centralized management solution for Ubuntu laptops used by software developers. The environment will support 50-100 developer workstations and requires secure integration with the company's identity, network, and security infrastructure.
The project is currently in the architecture and implementation phase. A basic solution has already been built using NinjaOne as the MDM platform. The main challenge is completing the enterprise-grade Linux endpoint management solution, including secure Wi-Fi connectivity and centralized certificate management.
Responsibilities
- Assess the existing Linux endpoint management solution and recommend architectural improvements.
- Design and implement enterprise-grade management of Ubuntu/Debian developer laptops.
- Configure centralized device management using MDM/UEM solutions (currently NinjaOne).
- Implement automated certificate enrollment and deployment from the internal PKI infrastructure.
- Configure secure enterprise Wi-Fi authentication (802.1X/NAC) for Ubuntu laptops.
- Integrate Linux endpoints with Microsoft Azure Entra ID for authentication and access control.
- Ensure endpoint security, including disk encryption, remote lock/wipe capabilities, privileged access management, and audit logging.
- Support deployment of enterprise security tools such as CrowdStrike and Tenable.
- Collaborate closely with Network, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
- After implementation, provide operational support for 50–100 Linux developer workstations.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing 50+ Ubuntu/Debian laptops in an enterprise environment.
- Strong expertise in Linux endpoint management and enterprise Linux administration.
- Experience with MDM/UEM platforms (NinjaOne, Microsoft Intune, Workspace ONE, Ivanti, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise PKI, certificate lifecycle management, and automated certificate deployment.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, including 802.1X, NAC, WPA Enterprise, EAP-TLS, and corporate Wi-Fi authentication.
- Experience integrating Linux devices with Microsoft Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) or similar identity platforms.
- Knowledge of disk encryption technologies (LUKS or similar), endpoint security, and privileged access management.
- Experience working with security products such as CrowdStrike, Tenable, or similar endpoint security solutions.
- Ability to work with cross-functional Infrastructure, Security, and Network teams.
Nice to have
- Experience designing enterprise Linux endpoint architectures from scratch.
- Experience with Ubuntu image creation, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of Linux automation tools (Ansible, Bash, Python, Terraform, or similar).
- Experience with Zero Trust security concepts.
Engagement
- Initial engagement: architecture review, consulting, and implementation of the Linux endpoint management solution.
- Long-term opportunity to support and evolve the platform after production rollout.
- Environment size: approximately 50-100 Ubuntu developer laptops.
