Infrastructure Engineer (Mainframe Communications Systems Software)
Location: Jersey City, NJ | Pittsburgh, PA | Lake Mary, FL (Hybrid)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support our Mainframe Communications Systems Software Engineering team. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing enterprise IBM z/OS infrastructure, supporting modernization and automation initiatives, participating in complex technology projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable mainframe operations. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in mainframe technologies and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support IBM z/OS mainframe infrastructure, including hardware and software lifecycle management.
- Work with technologies including JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, RACF, ACF2, TSS, source code management, and SDLC practices.
- Contribute to infrastructure modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Application Development, Production Services, and Data Center teams to deliver enterprise infrastructure solutions.
- Participate in complex infrastructure projects and provide technical expertise to support platform stability and performance.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT experience with strong expertise in enterprise mainframe infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience supporting IBM z/OS and mainframe communications systems.
- Experience working on complex infrastructure projects in large enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, engineering principles, and operational best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; financial services experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VTAM, TCP/IP, IBM Connect:Direct, CA Session Manager, CA Spool, JCL, and ISPF/TSO.
- Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM processes, Release and Change Management, and CMDB.
- Experience installing and supporting IBM operating systems, ISV software, and enterprise mainframe platforms.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Advanced infrastructure or engineering certifications are a plus.
