Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer - Linux / Infrastructure / Cyber Security / Bare Metal

We are currently partnered with a fast-growing technology company building enterprise-grade infrastructure to support high-performance computing and AI workloads. As part of their continued growth, they are looking to hire a Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer to design, deploy, and secure a modern bare-metal infrastructure environment while maintaining the highest standards of security, reliability, and operational excellence.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on building and securing enterprise infrastructure across physical servers, networking, Linux systems, and cloud-native tooling within a highly security-conscious environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance bare-metal Linux infrastructure and enterprise GPU environments
• Rack, cable, provision, and configure physical servers, networking equipment, and colocation infrastructure
• Implement defence-in-depth security strategies across infrastructure, networks, and operating systems
• Configure and maintain secure networking, including VLAN segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, and zero-trust access controls
• Harden Linux operating systems through secure configuration, access controls, auditing, and security best practices
• Deploy and manage secure self-hosted internal platforms and collaboration tools

Key requirements

• Strong commercial experience managing enterprise Linux infrastructure and bare-metal environments
• Deep expertise in Linux system administration across Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, or similar distributions
• Strong understanding of datacentre operations, physical server deployment, storage, RAID, IPMI/iDRAC, and enterprise networking
• Extensive knowledge of infrastructure security, system hardening, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network segmentation
• Experience configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, switching, routing, and secure network architecture
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, auditing, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to infrastructure reliability and security
