Role Overview
The Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer is a key member of the technology organization responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing enterprise infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments. Reporting to the Infrastructure leadership team, this individual will provide advanced technical expertise to ensure the stability, security, and performance of platforms supporting a SaaS-based business and its internal operations.
This position requires a highly experienced engineer who can lead infrastructure initiatives, solve complex technical challenges, implement automation, and drive improvements that enhance reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and maintain infrastructure solutions across cloud and datacenter environments.
- Oversee administration and support of Windows and Linux-based systems.
- Manage enterprise networking technologies, including firewalls, VPN connectivity, DNS services, routing, switching, and load-balancing solutions.
- Support and maintain identity and access management platforms, including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Develop and administer business continuity strategies, backup platforms, and disaster recovery processes.
- Configure, support, and optimize virtualized and cloud-hosted environments.
- Build automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual administration.
- Respond to infrastructure incidents and perform detailed root cause investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate on security enhancement projects, remediation efforts, and operational risk reduction activities.
- Partner with software engineering and application support teams to deliver highly available and scalable services.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in after-hours support rotations and critical issue escalation activities when required.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Eight or more years of experience in systems, cloud, or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Extensive hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Proven experience managing public cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with VMware technologies and third-party colocation facilities.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including firewall management, VPN technologies, routing, and switching.
- Background supporting infrastructure for software-as-a-service (SaaS) organizations.
- Experience designing and maintaining resilient architectures that incorporate backup, recovery, and high-availability capabilities.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation practices.
- Demonstrated success diagnosing and resolving complex production and platform issues.
- Strong written communication, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating within regulated, audited, or compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar governance standards.
- Microsoft Azure certifications or related cloud credentials.
- Experience utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) platforms and automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity tools, security controls, and vulnerability management best practices.
