Application Administrator / Application Support Specialist
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $50–$57/hour (W-2)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced REDCap Application Administrator / Application Support Specialist to support and maintain an enterprise REDCap environment hosted on AWS. This role is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, upgrades, integrations, and ongoing performance of the REDCap platform while ensuring a secure, reliable, and highly available application environment.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting enterprise web applications, managing AWS-hosted environments, working with PHP and MySQL, and collaborating across infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver high-quality application support.
Key Responsibilities
Application Administration & Support
- Administer and support the REDCap application hosted in AWS.
- Provide day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, and user assistance.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for REDCap-related issues.
- Coordinate software updates, patches, and version upgrades.
- Monitor application performance and proactively resolve issues.
- Support production incidents and ongoing application maintenance.
Application Development & Integration
- Install, configure, and maintain REDCap External Modules.
- Develop and support REDCap API integrations with internal and external applications.
- Build automation scripts for reporting and data validation using PHP and SQL.
- Support REST API integrations and data exchange processes.
- Assist with application enhancements and workflow improvements.
Database & Infrastructure Support
- Manage and maintain MySQL databases.
- Develop SQL queries for validation, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams supporting AWS services including EC2, S3, networking, security groups, and storage.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and system recovery activities.
- Assist with SSL/TLS certificate management and application security.
Security & Identity Management
- Implement and maintain OIDC, SAML, Active Directory, and LDAP integrations.
- Support authentication, identity management, and user access administration.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, HIPAA requirements, and audit logging.
- Participate in change management and release management processes.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration guides.
- Coordinate issue resolution with vendors, infrastructure teams, database administrators, and business users.
- Provide knowledge transfer and operational documentation.
- Participate in release planning and production support activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting applications hosted in AWS environments.
- 5–6 years of MySQL database administration and support.
- 5–6 years of experience supporting PHP application environments and microservices.
- 5–6 years of experience implementing and supporting OIDC and/or SAML authentication.
- Experience coordinating software upgrades and working with software vendors.
- Strong troubleshooting and application support experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years supporting enterprise web applications.
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, and Security Groups.
- Experience with REDCap API integrations.
- Experience supporting Apache or Nginx web servers.
- Experience implementing REST APIs.
- Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or Single Sign-On.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar enterprise ticketing platforms.
- Experience with DevOps practices and deployment tools.
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Experience with SQL Server Agent or SSIS.
- Experience with Twilio or SMS gateway integrations.
- Experience supporting healthcare, public health, higher education, or research environments.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, or Solutions Architect certification.
