Senior Systems Administrator (Linux)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator (Linux) to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise systems in a highly available, mission-critical environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience administering RHEL and Ubuntu Linux servers, along with expertise in virtualization, automation, storage management, backups, and infrastructure support. This position works closely with DevOps, Networking, Security, and Development teams to ensure stability, performance, and scalability across the environment.

This role participates in a rotating on-call schedule and may require occasional after-hours or weekend support.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux-based infrastructure environments (RHEL and Ubuntu)
• Troubleshoot complex system, application, and infrastructure issues
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization
• Develop and implement automation solutions using Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools
• Administer VMware virtualized environments
• Manage enterprise storage systems, including SAN and NAS devices
• Support and maintain backup and recovery solutions, including Veeam
• Administer Atlassian products, including Jira and Confluence
• Manage source control platforms such as GitLab, Subversion, and related tools
• Perform system patching, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations
• Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule providing 24/7 production support coverage

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience
• Strong experience supporting and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu environments
• Experience with Linux server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Hands-on experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting
• VMware administration experience
• Experience supporting enterprise backup solutions, preferably Veeam
• Experience administering Jira and Confluence
• Experience supporting GitLab, Subversion, or similar source control platforms
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage solutions
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Linux+, Security+, VMware VCP, or equivalent certifications
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or hybrid cloud environments
• Familiarity with networking concepts, TCP/IP troubleshooting, and security best practices
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools
• Exposure to DevOps methodologies and Agile environments
