About The Role
As a Server Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security and performance of Affidea's IT infrastructure across Switzerland.
You will design, implement, operate and continuously improve server and system environments supporting critical healthcare services. Acting as the infrastructure expert, you will contribute to strategic IT projects, define infrastructure standards and support the evolution of our technology landscape.
Your responsibilities
- Gather and prioritize infrastructure requirements from projects and business stakeholders
- Design, implement and maintain server and storage infrastructure
- Prepare and review technical specifications
- Represent server infrastructure in IT projects and governance meetings
- Collaborate closely with network, security and application teams
- Manage the server asset inventory and infrastructure lifecycle
- Plan capacity, investments and hardware replacement
- Coordinate supplier selection and procurement activities
- Define infrastructure standards (Windows Server, Linux, VMware, patch management, virtualization)
- Maintain accurate technical documentation
- Provide 2nd level support across Switzerland
- Coordinate 3rd level support with the Group IT teams
- Manage external infrastructure providers
- Proactively communicate risks, issues and improvement opportunities
Technical skills
- Proven experience as a Server Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration
- Solid experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, ESXi, Hyper-V, VDI)
- Experience with server, storage and infrastructure lifecycle management
- Good understanding of infrastructure security, patch management and system administration
- Experience working with external vendors and IT service providers
- Experience participating in infrastructure or digital transformation projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Structured, organized and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- High level of accountability and ownership
- Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude
- Fluent English is required
- Fluent French or German is required
- Experience in the Swiss healthcare sector
- Experience working in an international environment
- Knowledge of IT governance and infrastructure standards
