Linux System Administrator

This role is five days per week onsite in New York City. Outstanding compensation and benefits.

Our client is a mid-size trading firm, a Linux shop both on the server side and the trader desktops. Windows administration skills are a plus.

Interaction with users frequently, requiring good communication skills.

About the Role

Hands-on professional responsible for the workstations and servers of our trading operation.

All systems work is on desktops, servers and in the datacenters.

Freequent interaction with users at all levels of the firm.

Skills & Attributes:

• Expert level Linux administration is required
• Ubuntu and/or Debian experience preferred
• Experience scripting in python and/or bash, SQL and Perl a plus
• Knowledge of cybersecurity tools including Malwarebytes, 2FA, iptable rulesets
• Willingness to move and install equipment
• Varied responsibilities in a small-shop environment
• Hands-on work is commonplace, such as racking and stacking in datacenters

Responsibilities include:

• Installations of workstations
• Installations of networking appliances and servers in data centers

Additional tasks include:

• Hardware maintenance
• Large-scale build-outs, domestic and international travel possible
• Installation of office appliances
