About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing organization undergoing a major cloud and data platform transformation, is hiring a Data Warehouse Production Support Engineer for a highly visible, career-building role. This is not a task-based support position — it's a growth seat.
You'll start by providing expert-level production support, keeping mission-critical systems stable, resolving complex incidents, and partnering closely with engineering teams. But the long-term vision is bigger: as the organization expands its Snowflake footprint, you will grow into the company's first in-house Snowflake Subject Matter Expert, helping define standards and best practices as roughly 85% of the environment migrates to the cloud over the next several years.
We're not looking for someone who already knows everything. We're looking for someone smart, hungry, collaborative, and excited to build something from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Lead the monitoring and resolution of production support tickets, driving continuous improvement of workflows and SLAs
- Own investigation of complex production incidents — root cause analysis and long-term corrective action, not just quick fixes
- Administer and support environments across the full software development lifecycle
- Design and maintain deployment and automation scripts to reduce manual work
- Deliver data analysis and reporting that drives real decision-making for stakeholders
- Write and maintain runbooks and operational documentation that the whole team can rely on
- Identify and help remediate security vulnerabilities across the environment
- Partner cross-functionally as the organization scales its Snowflake adoption — and eventually help mentor other teams on it
What You Bring
- 5+ years of professional IT operations experience (we care more about your trajectory and aptitude than hitting a specific number of years)
- Solid Linux/command-line fundamentals — comfortable navigating systems, logs, and diagnostics
- Working SQL knowledge and some exposure to enterprise data warehouse environments (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar)
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis
- A collaborative mindset and genuine curiosity to keep learning and growing technically
Nice to have (not required — we'll help you build these):
- Exposure to Snowflake
- Experience with deployment automation tools (Git, SALT, or similar)
- Familiarity with Python, scripting/automation, or the ELK stack
- Experience with Java application environments (Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, NGINX)
Why This Role
- Real growth trajectory — this isn't a lateral move into another support queue. It's a seat that's designed to evolve into platform ownership.
- High visibility — you'll work directly with leadership and cross-functional teams from day one.
- Shape the standard — as the organization's first Snowflake SME, you'll help set the playbook others follow.
- Support for the journey — deep Snowflake expertise isn't expected on day one. Strong fundamentals and a drive to grow are what matter most.
