Senior Systems Engineer (F5 / Application Delivery / Hybrid Cloud)
Join a high-growth technology company supporting a secure, high-volume global platform. We're looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise application delivery and security solutions across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on F5 load balancing, application ingress, Linux, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud technologies, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, and security for mission-critical applications.
Location: Hybrid – Philadelphia area (local candidates only)
On-Call: Participation in an engineering escalation rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for application ingress and enterprise load balancing.
- Design, implement, and support global load-balancing solutions across data centre and hybrid cloud environments.
- Support the transition from traditional infrastructure to containerized workloads.
- Manage complex infrastructure, networking, security, and application delivery environments.
- Collaborate with networking, security, and operations teams to ensure reliable and secure application delivery.
- Develop automation, documentation, standards, and operational procedures to improve reliability and scalability.
- Lead platform upgrades, migrations, modernization projects, and technical initiatives.
Required Experience
- Expert hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP technologies, including:
- Local Traffic Manager (LTM)
- Application Security Manager (ASM) / Advanced WAF
- SSL/TLS offloading and certificate management
- High Availability (HA)
- Global Traffic Management
- iRules
- Traffic engineering
- Extensive experience implementing ingress solutions across physical, virtual, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, PKI, and certificate services.
- Advanced Linux administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Experience with Docker, OCI containers, container image management, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, firewalls, and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Experience with NGINX, Kubernetes Ingress, OpenShift Routes, and reverse proxy technologies.
- Infrastructure automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Ansible.

Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of infrastructure, systems, platform, or cloud engineering experience.
- 5+ years supporting enterprise application delivery, load balancing, or cloud infrastructure.
- 3+ years operating production Kubernetes and/or OpenShift environments.
Preferred Certifications
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or Certified Solution Expert (CSE)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Red Hat OpenShift Certification
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud certifications
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
