Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced IBM MQ Administrator to join our team in Dublin on a permanent basis. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing administration of MQ queue managers, with a strong focus on security, performance, and high availability across Linux/Unix environments.


Key Responsibilities


  • Install, configure, upgrade, and administer MQ queue managers on Linux/Unix.
  • Manage queues, channels, listeners, clustering, and high availability setups.
  • Implement and maintain MQ security, including TLS, certificates, and CHLAUTH.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot channel failures, queue depth issues, and performance problems. Perform capacity planning, DR testing, and platform automation.
  • Support event broker platforms such as Kafka or Solace from an infrastructure perspective. Define and enforce messaging platform standards and operational best practices.
  • Monitor IBM MQ performance and proactively identify and resolve issues related to message queuing and delivery.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for IBM MQ-related incidents and problems.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to IBM MQ and middleware technologies.


Required Skills

  • 6-8+ years of MQ administration experience in distributed environments
  • Strong knowledge of MQ clustering, security, and performance tuning
  • Experience with Linux and scripting/automation (Shell, Ansible, or Python)
  • Familiarity with event-driven platforms or event brokers
  • Experience supporting large-scale production messaging systems
  • Experience with monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge of RDMQ
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across applications and production environments
