Cloud & Systems Engineer

About the Role

Firethorne is hiring a Cloud & Systems Engineer to support server, storage, and Microsoft 365 infrastructure for our managed services client base — a core role as clients continue migrating workloads to the cloud and modernizing on-prem environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain server and storage infrastructure for client environments (on-prem and cloud). Manage and support Microsoft 365 tenants, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID. Support cloud migration projects (Azure, AWS) including planning, execution, and post-migration optimization. Monitor system performance, capacity, and backups across client environments. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide escalation support for the service desk. Maintain documentation for client environments, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or cloud administration, ideally in an MSP environment. Hands-on experience with Windows Server, virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware), and storage systems. Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience. Familiarity with Azure or AWS cloud environments. Strong troubleshooting and client communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified, or similar). Experience with backup/DR solutions and monitoring tools common in MSP environments. Scripting experience (PowerShell) for automation. Prior MSP or multi-client environment experience.
