Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid position for an Infrastructure Support Specialist located in Houston, TX, with a minimum of 2 days per week spent at the client site. The role involves managing infrastructure systems, providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, ensuring the RiVA platform is fully operational, including the Linux back end, virtual workstations and cluster environment. The specialist will also collaborate with the support team to manage daily operational activities, resolve technical problems, and provide optimal service management.
Primary responsibilities:
· Infrastructure management and maintenance
· Manage and resolve technical issues and requests using a ticketing system
· Ansible playbook maintenance
· Provide support for core infrastructure (including HPC) and desktop technologies
· Responsible for technical troubleshooting, data gathering and gap analysis for issues impacting end users and infrastructure
· Lead major incident and problem management response tasks and identifying risks to the technical infrastructure
· Responsible for all Linux systems, including maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting
· Manage data center infrastructure remediation/expansion activities
· Lead small operational projects (where required)
· Linux Security maintenance and patch management
· User authentication management and troubleshooting
· Firewall management and troubleshooting
Basic Qualifications:
· 8+ years' experience with Linux Platforms
· 5+ years’ experience with Windows Platforms
· 5+ years providing onsite support
· 5+ years' experience with Virtual environments
· 5+ years security and access support
Required Skills:
· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software or networking
· Knowledge of cloud-based solutions around compute, storage and network
· Experience working with PCoIP technologies such as RGS, TGX and LeoStream
· Experience with VMWare and/or virtual server environment administration
· Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) implementation and support
· Storage configuration and management (monitoring, allocating and troubleshooting)
· Experience with Zabbix or similar monitoring/alerting solutions
· Extensive knowledge of Linux and Windows OS and application security vulnerability remediation
· Maintenance of Ansible playbooks
· Creation and maintenance of detailed documentation
· Experience installing, supporting, and configuration of virtual systems and associated networking
· Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of technology and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in highly integrated and interconnected systems
· Hands-on hardware experience; builds, upgrades, repair including onsite Data Center activities
· Working knowledge of networking equipment and concepts
· Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
· Strong team and interpersonal skills
· Provide support on a M-F business hours schedule, also responsible for on-call, extended hour, and weekend support as required by project or priority support situations.
Desired Skills:
· Experience supporting Oil & Gas Technical Infrastructure
· Knowledge of Geoscience and Reservoir engineering applications, data and workflows including Reservoir Engineering and Seismic processing clusters (High Performance Computing)
· Experience packaging applications using PDQ
· Experience with maintenance and support of Ivanti
· Experience utilizing containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
· Experience in network configuration
