About the Role
We are seeking for a Linux Administrator to design, implement, and maintain our Linux-based server infrastructure. This role is ideal for a hands-on system who can work independently, drive automation and reliability improvements across our environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, or similar) in on-premises environments
- Deploy and administer virtualisation platforms including XCP-ng, Proxmox, KVM, and VMware
- Manage and maintain physical hardware in data center environments
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and uptime of critical services
- Design and implement automation using tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Bash/Python scripting
- Administer and maintain infrastructure services (Wildfly, Free-Radius, DNS, DHCP, Kea, Squid, NFS, LDAP etc.)
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation
- Configured and managed SAN storage systems (HPE MSA, Ceph), including volume provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity planning to support production workloads.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery processes
- Set up and maintain monitoring/logging systems (CheckMK, Zabbix, GrayLog, Rsyslog, andGrafana)
- Support containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker and Kubernetes)
- Implementing Load Balancing mechanics for critical services
- Provided Level 2 and Level 3 technical support
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in administering of Linux systems in production environments
- Strong expertise in major Linux distribution family
- Familiarity with data center, server, virtualization, storage, and backup systems.
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall, VPN)
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Collaborate with network, development, DevOps, and security teams on infrastructure projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good German and/or English skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications (RHCE, RHCSA, LFCS, or equivalent)
- Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
