Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in network design, infrastructure, or enterprise planning. Relevant associate's degree, graduate coursework, or professional experience may substitute per state guidelines.

Overview
Under direction, this classification leads design and implementation of enterprise network infrastructure supporting voice, video, and data. Ensures secure, scalable, and efficient communications systems through planning, leadership, and advanced technical support. This lead-level role provides technical direction, supervises network architecture projects, and drives strategic planning for enterprise networking. Functions as a liaison with stakeholders and vendors. This class differs from the Network Architect-Adv in that an incumbent of the latter, either independently or as a member of a project team, designs and implements networks to perform functions such as security, redundance, and load balancing for unified communications such as video, voice, and data, over the State of Tennessee's enterprise network.
Responsibilities
- Supervise network operations, design, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Lead planning and implementation of secure, resilient network architecture.
- Evaluate WAN/LAN performance data and capacity planning strategies.
- Manage hardware/software documentation, testing, and vendor engagement.
- Develop disaster recovery and network continuity plans.
- Create network specifications and architecture documentation.
- Train and mentor staff; develop transition documentation and training plans.
- Review network-related contracts and ensure compliance and performance standards.
