In support of our continued growth in the UK, we are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Specialist to join our team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on networking, systems administration and automation, supporting the ongoing development, performance and security of our internal infrastructure.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. They will be comfortable working across multiple technology domains, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and helping to ensure our infrastructure remains secure, reliable and scalable.
Your role as IT Specialist
As an IT Specialist, you will play a key role in the design, support and continuous improvement of Nomios' infrastructure. Working across networking, systems and automation, you will help ensure our environments remain secure, reliable and capable of supporting the continued growth of the business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical variety and takes ownership of their work. You'll collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to deliver infrastructure projects, improve operational efficiency through automation and maintain the high standards of service our teams depend upon every day.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise networking and systems infrastructure.
- Managing and optimising LAN services, routing technologies and overall system performance.
- Developing scripts and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency and scalability.
- Administering Windows and Linux environments while ensuring security, reliability and performance.
- Supporting Microsoft cloud and workplace technologies where required, including providing cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
- Collaborating with technical and business teams to deliver infrastructure projects and service improvements.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures and best practice guidance.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of secure, resilient and well-governed IT services.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical troubleshooting skills, an analytical mindset and a genuine interest in improving infrastructure through technology and automation. They will be comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
We're looking for an experienced IT professional with a strong background in networking, systems administration and automation who is comfortable working across a broad infrastructure landscape. You'll enjoy solving complex technical problems, improving operational efficiency through automation, and taking ownership of infrastructure services in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will have experience in many of the following areas:
- Enterprise networking, including LAN switching, routing technologies such as OSPF and BGP, traffic optimisation, Quality of Service (QoS) and network troubleshooting.
- Windows and Linux systems administration, including maintaining secure, reliable and high-performing infrastructure environments.
- Developing automation solutions and scripts using technologies such as PowerShell, Python or Bash to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Infrastructure automation, configuration management or DevOps practices using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Git, Power Automate or Power Apps.
- Supporting and maintaining secure IT environments, with a strong understanding of operational best practices, resilience and performance optimisation.
- Providing support across Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID and Azure, when required, particularly to provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
- Working within mixed-platform environments, including Microsoft, Linux and Apple macOS devices.
Organisation Structure
The IT Engineer reports to the Group IT Architect.
Job Specifics
- Location : This role is based at our Basingstoke office, with flexibility for occasional homeworking by agreement (free hot & cold drinks, breakfast items, snacks, lunches, and regular takeaway Fridays are provided to all staff in the office!)
- Hours : Full-time, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm
