Calian Belgium is a legal entity registered in Belgium that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration aimed at supporting the Belgium Army with training and exercise solutions. Our solutions combine local expertise, proven delivery methods, and interoperable live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation to ensure “train-as-you-will fight” is realistic, repeatable and measurable, while remaining fully aligned with national priorities.
Calian has been selected as a contender to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN). We are ready to deliver Belgian-built capabilities, underpinned by decades of experience supporting the Canadian Army, British Army and the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ecosystem.
Position Overview
As part of this initiative, Calian is currently seeking a Senior Information Technology (IT) Manager to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN) in Leopoldsburg, Belgium.
Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Technical Services Manager (TSM) for all Information Technology support activities
- Serves as the senior technical authority for network, server, workstation, and IT support services
- Provides technical advice and recommendations to the TSM on all IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and lifecycle management matters
- Manages all personnel assigned to the Information Technology Support Team and assigns tasks, priorities, and responsibilities
- Oversees the operation, maintenance, and availability of all SIMCEN IT infrastructure supporting training and simulation activities
- Ensures network connectivity and service availability in support of all SIMCEN activities, exercises, and events
- Establishes, manages, and monitors the effectiveness of the SIMCEN IT Help Desk
- Oversees configuration management of all network devices, servers, simulation clients, workstations, and peripheral equipment
- Manages software licensing, software deployment, version control, and patch management activities
- Oversees network monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and service restoration activities
- Ensures backup, recovery, and business continuity procedures are established and maintained
- Oversees account management, access control, and implementation of cybersecurity and information assurance requirements
- Coordinates technical support requirements for planned and unplanned training activities
- Develops and maintains technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), technical procedures, network diagrams, configuration records, and asset inventories
- Monitors technical performance metrics and identifies opportunities for system improvements and modernization
- Coordinates all requests for external technical support with SIMCEN and Belgian Defence representatives
- Plans and coordinates hardware refresh, replacement, and lifecycle management activities
- Supports integration activities with the Simulation Integrator and Information Management Officer
- Acts as the senior escalation authority for IT-related issues affecting contract performance
- Performs all above tasks in support of all SIMCEN sites
Qualifications
- College diploma or certification in Information Technology (IT) from a post secondary institution (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Information Technology field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing small IT teams, administering and configuring networks
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using Windows 10 (and/or higher), Red Hat Linux, Active Directory software
- Proficiency in Dutch AND French at CEFR B2 level or higher
- Proficiency in English at CEFR B2 level or higher is considered an asset
Additional Requirements
- You must be eligible to obtain a Belgian Security Clearance at the secret level
- You must be able to work on-site
- You must be willing to travel
