Lead a team responsible for critical enterprise infrastructure while driving system reliability, modernization, and operational excellence. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with team development, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of high-availability environments supporting essential business operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and prioritize the work of Systems Engineers while supporting their ongoing training and development.
- Oversee the administration, performance, and reliability of enterprise servers and operating systems across multiple platforms.
- Drive proactive system monitoring, capacity planning, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrade initiatives.
- Ensure change management processes are followed and infrastructure changes are implemented with minimal business disruption.
- Coordinate technical response during high-priority incidents, providing timely communication and escalation when needed.
- Promote accurate documentation, project tracking, reporting, and operational best practices across the engineering team.
- Partner with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to implement enhancements that strengthen system performance and availability.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing leadership during critical issues and guiding root-cause analysis and resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional IT experience.
- Proven experience managing complex multi-server environments with technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, Active Directory, and Windows, Linux, UNIX, AIX, or AS/400 platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, networking, storage technologies, and system administration in high-availability environments.
- Prior experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, or coordinating infrastructure projects is highly valued.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and modern virtualization technologies is beneficial.
- Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments.
