Network Engineer - Senior Member, Tech (SRE)

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Network Engineer with an exceptional understanding of networking technology to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at D. E. Shaw India, based out of the firm’s office in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. This is a hands-on technical role within a cross-functional team that is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a secure network infrastructure. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

In this role, you will design, implement, and manage the firm's networking infrastructure in collaboration with other IT infrastructure teams. You will engage in engineering project work and provide tier 2/3 operational support to enhance the overall configurability, observability, supportability, and reliability of the firm's enterprise technology environment. You will be responsible for projects that include researching and implementing solutions to improve and advance the firm’s network infrastructure, as well as ensuring the stability and reliability of the existing environment. You will also develop, support, and maintain automation to perform network-related tasks more efficiently. Additionally, you will upgrade and/or redesign existing infrastructure to improve performance and stability.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal candidate should hold–

Basic qualifications:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science and engineering or a related technical discipline, with at least 3 years of experience in the network domain
• A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including the TCP/IP stack, switching, and routing
• Familiarity with common enterprise and data center networking devices and management tools
• Previous experience in the design and end-to-end implementation of performant, reliable, and secure network systems
• Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and experience with diagnostic tools on Linux and network devices
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with scripting in Python or any other programming language to support and enhance automation
