DLC has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Senior Network Engineer supporting an Intelligence Community customer's wide-area (WAN), local-area (LAN) and campus-area (CAN) networks across multiple security domains.
What You'll Get To Do
- Active TS/SCI with Poly
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of existing network and/or security hardware and software in use to provide third-tier technical and administrative support, and provide complex internal analysis and support of the network and/or security infrastructure.
- Acts as the technical interface with vendors and other external stakeholders and reviews/makes recommendations on network and/or security service / maintenance arrangements.
- Reviews technical documentation of supported environments to ensure that documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Provide O&S of LAN/WAN services on an expanded 24x7-service support level on-site and expanded 12x5 service support level during core hours and on-call support with two-hour response time during non-core hours
- Provide manhole maintenance and repairs services of outside plan cabling on a standard 8x5 service support level for communications
- Can install and configure WAN and LAN hardware to include voice, video, and data cable systems. Develops system specifications, architecture designs, integration and test plans, and all relevant documentation.
- Develops risk management and mitigation strategy. Maintain compliance with QA standards as well as ensuring service performance indicators are met or exceeded.
- Works individually and also actively participates on integrated teams to support the customers deployable networks supporting multiple mission partners at multiple locations CONUS/OCONUS
- Requires minimal guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers. Provides guidance to lower level technicians and specialists.
- Understands and applies more advanced concepts and processes to daily activities. Assists more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities. Can perform all tasks of lower level technicians or specialists.
- Travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites to support customer deployments, installations and maintenance activities.
- Develop, configure and maintain the customer's deployable communications suites.
- Analyzes designs, develops, and/or maintains both hardware and software needed for network communications including local area networks (LANs) wide area networks (WANs), the internet, intranets, and other data communication systems.
- Communicates complex concepts and data effectively and creatively (both written and oral) across multiple organizations, both internal & external, and with executive company and customer management.
- Performs design, engineering, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of the local area networks (LAN)s and/or wide area network (WAN), and/or security infrastructure.
- Network design, engineering, and implementation (Advanced Level)
- Creation of network related Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) equipment lists and costing.
- Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed
- Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field
- Ability to work full-time on-site at customer location
- 7+ years' experience working as a Network Engineer
- DoD 8140.01 and 8570.01-M, IAT II required
- Possesses experience with most common network components to include routers, switches, firewalls, protocols, VoIP, DNS, remote access, VPN, routing, and switching. Also has knowledge of TCP/IP routing technologies including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP, in addition to knowledge of applicable business lines/industries.
- Ability to estimate labor needed to complete planning, engineering, procurement, and installation of complex Enterprise Transport solutions
- Understanding of DISA and IC standards and processes
- Proficient is MS Office suite -- Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques
- Understanding and experience with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions
- Experience with CISCO and Juniper: switches, routers, as well as Cryptographic devices, IPSEC.
- Experience with Network analysis tools (CISCO Network Analysis Modules, Solar Winds Network Management, OPNET NetOne, HP Network Node Manager, etc.)
- Experience with CISCO and Juniper firewall/VPN devices
- Experience with supporting IP services to connect to NIPRNET, SIPRNET and JWICS (IPv4, VPN, IPv6, Multicast, QOS, SDN, SNMP, VOIP, VTC, etc)
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
