Our client is a growing telecommunications infrastructure company seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join its team in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This is an on-site role based in the Allen, TX area, and candidates must currently be located in the DFW Metroplex.
The Senior Network Engineer will play a key role in designing, expanding, securing, and supporting a high-performance telecom network infrastructure. This person will work across large-scale routing, MPLS, Layer 2/Layer 3 architecture, backbone connectivity, fiber-optic service delivery, network resiliency, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities include:
- Architect, deploy, and manage large-scale network infrastructures aligned with company standards and future growth initiatives.
- Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot core routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
- Implement and support expansive Layer 3 and MPLS environments.
- Apply strong knowledge of fiber-optic service delivery and backbone connectivity to improve resiliency and reliability.
- Perform routine and advanced network maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and security hardening.
- Conduct network modeling, analysis, and forecasting to maintain a reliable, high-performance network ecosystem.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Monitor and improve network performance through proactive analysis and optimization.
- Support network security practices and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience working with large-scale network environments.
- Deep expertise with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
- Proven experience with Layer 2, Layer 3, and MPLS network architectures.
- Experience working with major network platforms such as Juniper and Cisco.
- Strong understanding of network security technologies and best practices.
- Experience in telecom, ISP, carrier, fiber, backbone, or service provider network environments preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive engineering mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, CCNP, or CCIE are highly preferred.
