Mission and Challenges
- Infrastructure & networking: Design, implement, and maintain the facility’s network end to end—LAN/WLAN/WAN, switching, routing, firewalls, and VPN. Plan capacity, segment the network, and ensure secure, reliable connectivity across the site.
- Structured cabling & site buildout: Manage and support structured cabling, server/network rooms (MDF/IDF), racks, power, and physical IT infrastructure for a new start up facility.
- Server & systems implementation: Manage deployment and administer on-premises and cloud server infrastructure (Windows Server, virtualization, hybrid Active Directory/Entra), storage, and backup/disaster-recovery solutions.
- Security & compliance: Implement and enforce security controls—endpoint protection, identity and access management, MFA, patching, logging, and monitoring—and align local practices with corporate security standards and compliance requirements.
- Endpoint & collaboration management: Own the device lifecycle in Microsoft Intune (Windows/macOS/iOS/Android), and administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, and SharePoint/OneDrive, including provisioning, permissions, and licensing.
- End-user support & service: Serve as the local escalation point and provide hands-on support for users on-site, partnering with the global Service Desk to resolve issues quickly and keep the business running.
- Leadership, processes & vendors: Build and lead the local IT team as the site scales, define standards, documentation, and processes, and manage vendors, procurement, and IT budget for the entity.
- Several years of progressive IT experience, including infrastructure ownership.
- Hands-on networking expertise: switching, routing, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and VPN; relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+) are a plus.
- Experience planning structured cabling and server/network room or new-site buildouts.
- Strong server and systems skills: Windows Server, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), Active Directory, and backup/disaster recovery.
- Solid administration of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (users, groups, MFA, guest access, licensing).
- Endpoint management with Intune (enrollment, profiles/policies, compliance, app deployment); strong understanding of Windows, with macOS/iOS/Android a plus.
- Solid grasp of IT security fundamentals: endpoint protection, identity and access, patching, and monitoring.
- Experience with PowerShell and a strong interest in using and enhancing scripts for automation and standardization.
- Vendor and project management experience, with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Structured, service-oriented way of working and excellent communication skills.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken (B2 or higher); German is a plus.
- Degree in IT or Computer Science, completed vocational training in IT, or comparable qualification and experience.
