Overview

ROLE AT A GLANCE:

The Principal II, Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting global network services across the enterprise. This role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable delivery and operational excellence. This position requires deep expertise across multiple network technologies, providing leadership in architecture, engineering, and release management across a global environment. The role collaborates with senior IT leaders, vendors, and internal technology partners, and influences strategic direction to align with business and operational goals.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Lead technical review and governance of global network architecture, including performance, capacity, and utilization management
  • Define and establish network capabilities, standards, and processes to support both tactical and strategic objectives
  • Lead support and continuous improvement of network platforms through maintenance, enhancements, and incident resolution
  • Drive strategic network architecture decisions and long-term technology direction
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, work with minimal guidance and balance workload based on direction from senior management and/or business driver
  • Validated customer service skills, specifically, the ability to build and nurture customer relationships and respond to customer needs.
  • Ensure an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and drive resolution of risks impacting network delivery and stability
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed project plans, scope of work, and other user documentation of all moves, adds, and changes regarding the wide-area network
  • Ability to evaluate existing communications systems, identify deficiencies, and make network performance recommendations
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Ability to join On-Call routine coverage to support global network operations

Global, high-impact network team supporting mission-critical operations across regions. Modern environment focused on cloud networking, SD-WAN, and hybrid architecture. High ownership model with end-to-end responsibility for design, stability, and performance. Strong cross-team collaboration with security, cloud, and infrastructure teams. Focus on innovation and continuous improvement (automation, performance, optimization)

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineering and operations teams across global regions
  • Drive architecture standards, best practices, and governance to ensure consistency, scalability, and reliability
  • Influence and align cross-functional teams (cloud, security, infrastructure) on network strategy and design decisions
  • Lead major initiatives and transformation programs (cloud networking, SD-WAN, infrastructure modernization)
  • Manage and guide vendors and strategic partners, ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives
  • Support team development through knowledge sharing, coaching, and technical guidance
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents and high-impact issues

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s in information technology or equivalent

Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in network operations or related field
  • Routing & Switching (Enterprise-Scale Networks)
  • Deep expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Advanced switching technologies and large-scale FW/LAN/WAN design
  • Troubleshooting and performance optimization across global networks
  • Cloud Networking (Public & Hybrid)
  • Design, implementation, and support of cloud network architectures across GCP, Azure, OCI and/or AWS
  • Hybrid connectivity (VPN, SD-WAN, private circuits such as ExpressRoute/Direct Connect)
  • Integration of on-prem and cloud network environments including Cisco ACI or VMware NSX and cloud gateway
  • Data Center infrastructure solutions:
  • Cisco (R&S), ASA/Firepower (NGFW + IDS/IPS)
  • Infoblox (DDI), Citrix NetScaler, Portnox NAC
  • Cisco and Arista platforms
  • Network segmentation and access control in remote offices
  • Comprehensive knowledge includes solutions analysis, design, deployment, and operationalization in the following areas:
  • Cloud Edge Networking and Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN), Automation, Data Center. Cloud
  • Programming/scripting languages and frameworks knowledge and experience, in support of automation (Python, Ansible, etc.)
  • Data Center Automation & Orchestration
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal/written communication (with both technical and non-technical audiences)

Skills/Certifications

  • Preferred: CCIE or equivalent
  • Multi-lingual is a plus
