Total Compensation: Up to $400k split between base and bonus

Our client, a global leading technology trading firm, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join its high-performance infrastructure team in Chicago. The successful candidate will help build, operate, and automate low-latency networks that support mission-critical trading systems and global connectivity.

The role

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on designing, deploying, maintaining, and continuously improving low-latency network infrastructure. The role will involve close collaboration with infrastructure, systems, and trading operations teams to ensure the network is fast, reliable, observable, and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate low-latency network infrastructure supporting trading and research environments.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks and network workflows to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and resolve incidents quickly across production environments.
• Contribute to network architecture, capacity planning, and ongoing optimisation initiatives.
• Work with routing, switching, and data-centre connectivity in high-availability environments.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to improve tooling, telemetry, and operational processes.

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer in large-scale, high-performance, or low-latency environments.
• Strong knowledge of network design, operations, and troubleshooting in complex production settings.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting, such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• A track record of improving resilience, visibility, and performance across critical infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
