Are you an accomplished Optical Network Engineer ready to take on a high-impact role in a world-renowned tech organisation? Our client is seeking a seasoned professional to join their elite networking team for a 12-month onsite contract in the heart of Dublin.


You’ll play a pivotal role maintaining and evolving mission-critical IP infrastructure that supports operations on a global scale.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and rollout our global DWDM networks;
  • Drive scaling designs to meet the demand of our customers;
  • Create processes that help operate and build our optical network;
  • Work closely with other Networking teams;
  • Evaluate new products and drive commercial tender process;
  • Ensure that the optical network adheres to the defined network standards;
  • Review and implement changes on the optical systems;
  • Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability;
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree;
  • Minimum of 7+ years industry experience;
  • Experience with optical planning, modelling tools and rollout of large DWDM networks;
  • Expertise IP networking fundamentals and IP protocols;
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major DWDM platforms (Ciena, Infinera and Cisco);
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major router platforms (Cisco and Juniper) including compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms;
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF;
  • Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills;
  • Candidates should also have had significant past experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies: DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48), 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP;
