Network Engineer IV – Optical Networks | Dublin 2 | 12-Month Contract
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a global infrastructure team responsible for operating and evolving one of the world’s largest optical networks. This is a fully onsite role based in Dublin 2, offered as a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension, paying up to €100,000 per annum pro rata.
You will work on high-capacity DWDM and optical transport networks that enable connectivity across large-scale data centre environments worldwide. The role combines network engineering, operations, change management, and project delivery, with responsibility for planning and executing device upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving operational improvements.
Key requirements:
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in optical network operations/support
- Hands-on experience with DWDM and optical transport technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and network analysis skills
- Experience operating large-scale, high-availability environments
- Knowledge of technologies such as BGP, OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs/STP, VPNs and related networking protocols
- Experience with optical planning/modelling tools is advantageous
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, Shell or Perl) are desirable
Successful candidates will be highly organised, self-sufficient and comfortable owning projects from planning through to execution. Experience working with telecom providers, internet service providers, cloud infrastructure, or large data centre environments would be highly beneficial.
