A major international manufacturer needs a Resident IT Engineer permanently based at their German production site — the sole hands-on IT presence, acting as the local extension of a centrally managed EMEA IT function. High autonomy, direct line to central infrastructure teams, real ownership of the site.

Job Description:

• Boots on the ground for all onsite infrastructure activity — changes, incidents, hands-on support
• Maintain the local server, storage, virtualisation and network environment
• Support and coordinate local IT projects alongside central IT and external service providers
• Server and network troubleshooting, L3 escalation point above the service desk
• Act as the bridge between local business stakeholders and the central IT organisation

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science / IT, or equivalent by experience
• VMware, server & storage infrastructure, backup solutions
• Cisco LAN/WLAN
• Active Directory
• Basic Palo Alto firewall administration
• Experience in an industrial or OT environment — strong asset
• Xurrent (ITSM) — a plus
• Customer-oriented, structured and accurate, strong communicator
• Comfortable working independently onsite while collaborating with international teams
• Fluent German & English
