We are looking for: Senior Manufacturing System Engineer
Job Overview
The Sr. Manufacturing System Engineer owns IT on the ground at Eagle Wireless's new production facility in Solon, Ohio, including the plant network, the production-line PCs, and the site infrastructure a working factory depends on. This is the first IT role based in Ohio, working embedded with the manufacturing team daily and supported by Eagle Wireless's global IT team.
Eagle's software team owns the MES and traceability systems end to end, including the applications, the data, and the platforms they run on. This role provides the foundation those systems depend on: the plant network, reliable connectivity from the production line, and the site infrastructure that keeps everything reachable, powered, and recoverable.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Network & Infrastructure
- Build the factory network, including structured cabling coordination, switching, firewall, and Wi-Fi, along with a separated production (OT) network for line equipment, to Eagle's documented standards.
- Deliver network buildout in phases, prioritizing packaging and production lines, with SMT to follow as facility power capacity expands.
Production Systems
- Own imaging, licensing, uptime, and lifecycle management for the Windows PCs driving SMT, test, inspection, and packaging equipment.
- Plan system maintenance around production schedules to minimize disruption to line operations.
Software & Automation Team Support
- Provide the network, connectivity, and site infrastructure that the software team's MES and traceability systems depend on.
- Ensure reliable data flow from line equipment to the software team's systems: connectivity, network capacity, and escalation when the path from machine to system breaks.
- Partner with software, automation, and manufacturing engineers on the network and compute their systems depend on.
Site Support & Onboarding
- Support endpoints, onboarding, and day-one readiness across the factory, the CO-AX production facility, and Cleveland HQ, using Eagle's Intune and M365 playbooks.
Physical & Compliance Systems
- Support door access and camera systems, and the systems behind Foreign-Trade Zone operations and IATF 16949 quality documentation, in partnership with Quality and Manufacturing.
- Documentation
- Maintain site documentation, runbooks, and network pages in Confluence, and track work in Jira.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering, including time in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Windows depth, including client and server administration, and backup and recovery.
- Experience with endpoint management tools such as Intune or similar.
- Networking fundamentals, including VLANs, firewalls, switching, and Wi-Fi, along with the judgment to keep production equipment segmented from the corporate network.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to document decisions and status clearly for a distributed, global team.
- Ability to work self-directed on site, setting priorities against production needs and escalating issues early.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant IT or networking certifications; demonstrated hands-on ability is prioritized over certification alone.
- Prior experience supporting production environments where MES or production control systems are in use.
Work Environment & Location
- This position is based on-site in Solon, Ohio.
- On-site presence is required to support the factory, the CO-AX production facility, and Cleveland HQ.
- Works embedded with the manufacturing team daily, supported by Eagle Wireless's global IT team across Minneapolis, Belgrade, and Penang.
- Work involves an active manufacturing and construction environment, requiring close coordination with production schedules.
